Work performed on facilities such as bridges (George Washington, Goethals, Bayonne, Outer), tunnels (Lincoln and Holland), airports (EWR, Laguardia, JFK) and major routes along these facilities. Responsibilities include traffic studies (volume, speed, capacity etc.), transportation planning, maintenance of traffic, signal studies and impact studies.

AUSTIN-BERGSTORM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, AUSTIN, TEXAS

Located on the site of the former Bergstrom Air Force Base, Austin Airport is first U.S. conversion of an Air Force Base to commercial airport since the end of the Cold War. Construction Cost of $581 million, the largest construction project in the history of the City of Austin was completed on budget and on time. The Brooklyn Bridge, built in 1883, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretches 5,989 feet (1825 m) over the East River connecting the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. On completion, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world and the first steel-wire suspension bridge. This aged and poorly rated structure was under a series of rehabilitation projects with an estimated construction cost of about $350 million. Part deck replacement contract our engineers were in-charge of the designs of York Street Structure, which includes rehabilitation / replacement of abutments, deck, bearings and approaches.

GREATER HYDERABAD CORRIDOR MANAGEMENT, HYDERABAD, GHMC

GHMC hired ITE to develop an immediate action plan, which will manage & control traffic to relieve congestion along major corridors & thruways. Plan will adopt advanced Intelligent Transportation System techniques to develop a state-of-the-art system which will integrates traffic control, traffic monitoring, and information services which could be adapted for local conditions. ITE has delivered the project on pilot basis by developing simulation model for a high profiled corridor and recommended locally adaptable state-of-the-art ITS architecture & associated infrastructure, software shell for system integration, intra-department communication protocols, policies & procedures, design guidelines, data acquisition procedures for road network model. Successful implementation of Corridor-wide ATMS will lead the way for a comprehensive GHMC-Integrated Transportation Management System (ITMS).

LILYPOND CONTAINER TERMINAL DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS, IJORA, LAGOS, NIGERIA, NIGERIAN PORT AUTHORITY

The menace of flood and erosion at the Lilypond Container Terminal, Ijora, has severely impacted the business operations of Nigeria Customs Service, Lilypond Customs Area Command, with the floods has reduced its revenue collection by between 30 to 40 per cent. Our Engineers involved in the Innovative Rehabilitation Designs of the container terminals which will eliminate water logged conditions and improve the utilization of the container terminal. The estimated construction cost is about N600 Million. The proposed plan includes redesign of drainage system, storage pads and outfall system.

DRAINAGE ASSESSMENT STUDY OF CEDAR BROOK (TRIBUTARY TO GREEN BROOK), NEW JERSEY

The City of Plainfield is historically prone to significant flooding during routine storm events. The City is also the downstream recipient of stormwater runoff from the towns of Scotch Plains and Fanwood immediately north of the study area.

A comprehensive study of the drainage area tributary to the Cedar Brook outfall was conducted which included the existing box culvert stormsewer system as well as the influence of the contiguous Greenbrook watershed area on the Cedar Brook drainage area. As this study proceeded, the magnitude of the study area increased from the original 500 acre area to an area of over 3000 acres. Part of the project the following services were provided:

New aerial photography of the study area, New video mapping of the box culvert system beneath North Avenue and through portions of Richmond Street, Ground survey to locate visible drainage appurtenances, establish above ground control points, and establish ROW, Identify all Utility Owners that operate within the study area and provide information about the types, locations and general disposition of their facilities, Environmental Screening to identify wetlands, Section 4f Green Acre Resources, Cultural Resources, Hazardous Materials

CYBER DISTRICT HIGH TECHNOLOGY CENTER, NEW JERSEY

Like many small urban communities , the City of Plainfield has a significant number of abandoned or underutilized industrial properties resulting from the movement elsewhere of the manufacturing sector and the middle class that it relied upon. In attempt to put itself in a position of control to define its economic future, Plainfield must balance strategic economic growth in an era of high technology with maintaining livability and sense of community and identity. The Smartgrowth / Cyberdistrict Initiative is a strategic planning initiative to advance commercial and industrial development along the existing rail corridor where decline in manufacturing uses of available land have led to high vacancy rates, property abandonment and property obsolence. As part of a multi-discipline team effort, our staff provided planning, transportation and traffic circulation analysis of key intersections and roadways throughout the City of Plainfield. It also focused on pedestrian movements and facilities, parking facilities and projected needs and transit/commuter data. This involved a detailed and coordinated data collection program, an analysis of existing conditions based on this data and development of improvements to existing substandard conditions that will support a full build-out scenario. The results of this comprehensive investigation and analysis were brought together in a series of recommendations, which themselves were incorporated into the overall strategic economic plan.
