Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) refers to transportation systems which apply emerging hard and soft information systems technologies to address and alleviate transportation congestion problems which include a broad range of wireless and wire-line communications-based information, control and electronics technologies. When integrated into the transportation system infrastructure, and in vehicles themselves, these technologies help monitor and manage traffic flow, reduce congestion, provide alternate routes to travelers, enhance productivity, and save lives, time and money. ITE provides Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) services, from the conceptual phase to the development and implementation phase. In the developed and developing world, competing needs for water among agriculture, industry and homes creates severe stress upon water supplies. It is essential to map urban environments and measure the economic benefits of trees, soils, and other natural resources through Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This information is key in designing urban landscapes that retain soil quality, manage stormwater runoff, control pollution, reduce energy consumption, and use solar energy to cool urban areas. ITE Management Team & Key Personnel have been directly involved in many of the complex stormwater related projects in some of the highly urbanized cities in the United States.
SPATIAL
GIS technology provides tools for visualizing, integrating, and analyzing spatial data and a unique capacity to merge information from many sources. By using a common spatial framework, GIS enables users to analyze how physical, social, and economic factors interact. Constraints to widespread use of GIS have been its high cost and complexity and the difficulty of obtaining geographically referenced (georeferenced) data. ITE Survey Crews now use GPS to capture the location of sample points, such as plots or households, enabling easy visualization of survey results and integration with other geographic data.
ITE technicians are experienced in Image-processing techniques generate digital maps from aerial photos or satellite data that combine the accuracy of a topographic map with the rich contextual information of a photographs.
